Fruit Production

Asai Nursery is undertaking large-scale kiwifruit orchard operations.

Since 2019, we have been engaged in a large-scale kiwifruit orchard project in Tamaki Town, Mie Prefecture. Teaming up with Zespri, a leading kiwifruit distributor in New Zealand, we produce SunGold kiwifruit. Over 60% of the orchard was previously abandoned farmland. We are working on creating a new kiwifruit production area by consolidating and utilizing such land.
Moreover, we are incorporating advanced production techniques from overseas, including New Zealand, to develop our unique kiwifruit production methods tailored to Japan's specific climate conditions. Additionally, by 2024, a similar-sized orchard will be established in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, as part of our ongoing efforts to further expand our scale.

Features of Kiwifruit Cultivation

Partnership with Zespri, a Leading Kiwifruit Distributor in New Zealand

We have entered into a production partnership with Zespri, a major kiwifruit distributor, and actively adopting cultivation techniques from New Zealand to operate kiwifruit orchards focused on high-yield models.

Use of Abandoned Farmland

We accumulate abandoned farmland and utilize fallow agricultural land. We are working in collaboration with local governments to address regional issues while revitalizing unused agricultural land.

Cutting-edge Technology Guidance

We continually seek guidance from top growers, researchers, and research institutions both domestic and international to establish Japanese-style kiwifruit cultivation techniques

Production of Nurseries and Pollen

We are committed to the in-house production of essential nurseries and pollen vital for fruit tree cultivation. Producing these essentials in-house ensures supply stability and allows us to enhance fruit tree quality, reduce costs, and increase yields.

Capability for Large-scale Orchard Development

From procuring overseas orchard facilities to conducting orchard development projects, Asai Nursery is taking the lead in driving the project. We handle everything from land consolidation to orchard development in a cohesive manner.

Cultivation Technology

Hardware technologies

Windbreak Nets

Introducing New Zealand's technology and equipment to prevent fruits from dropping because of strong winds.

Fruit Tree Shelves

By creating a structure that can withstand 70t/ha weight, orchard development suitable for mass production is achieved.

New Shoot Guidance Technology

By guiding new shoots, proper growth management is conducted.

Hydroponic Cultivation/Irrigation Equipment

Hydroponic cultivation using sprinklers is implemented, and the irrigation equipment is managed by a system based on settings from the weather station.

Software technologies

Technology Guidance

We collaborate with New Zealand's top growers, domestic researchers, and technical instructors.

Fertilizer Design

Soil and leaf analyses are conducted annually to formulate fertilizer prescriptions.

Soil Improvement

Actively using locally sourced compost to achieve local production for local consumption.
